FCSN provides a broad range of mental health services to adolescents, adults, couples, and families who have experienced stress and conflict in their lives. The staff has expertise in helping people with problems including mood disorders, relationship and family issues, job stress, and many other life crises and transitions. Our team of Social Workers, Counselors, and Psychologists provide a continuum of community-based services. Counseling services include individual psycho-therapy for adults and adolescents, psychiatric services, substance abuse services and family therapy. Outpatient mental health counseling is available to all seniors, and psychiatric and pharmacological services are provided 6 days a month. Family & Children’s Service of Nantucket County, Inc (FSCN) is the only licensed private non-for-profit mental and substance abuse agency on the island since 1962. For the last fifty plus years the agency has provided affordable treatment to those that need it the most. The agency has twenty-three staff and has been covering a big need within Nantucket serving ~16,300 direct client hours annually. While there are a private therapists on-island, FCSN is exclusively the only provider for those with no insurance, under-insured, MassHealth insurance, as well as, our immigrant population speaking French, Spanish, and Portuguese. The agency believes that the goal is to be a viable, healthy, and sustainable part of the community by offering services to help others become those themselves.

- Outpatient Mental health and Substance Abuse Therapy:
Therapy for children, adolescents, adults, families, couples, group and elderly adults. Areas of treatment; depression, trauma, anxiety disorders, eating disorder, significant addiction, suicidal thoughts, psychosis, and grief.
- In-Home Therapy:
Therapeutic services provided in the community, school, and home for a child and their family in improve the child’s emotional, behavioral, and psychological needs.
- Psychological Testing:
Offering a wide range of psychological, diagnostic, psycho-educational, and neuropsychological testing and assessment for all age groups.
We employ the only psychiatrist to provide medication management services on island for children, as well as, the only adult psychiatrist on-island providing weekly support.
- Crisis Response Team:
Family & Children’s Service is the only provider of 24hr-365days crisis response to triage and provide safety for those in an emergency and provide around the clock telephone support.
- Court-Ordered Treatment:
First and second DUI offenders and anger management

For all other types of insurance, please contact Access Nantucket for additional outpatient therapists for referrals. For those without insurance, we accept self-pay at the beginning of services. We access all underinsured clients on an individual basis for sliding-fee services.

Stephanie has been a psychologist for over 20 years, specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and play therapy. I can evaluate emotional, cognitive or learning problems. Throughout those years, Stephanie has worked with families and children, with people who have developmental disabilities as well as people with substance abuse issues. Her first job was as a residential drug abuse counselor. She worked with developmentally disabled people and their families prior to moving to Nantucket 22 years ago..
Megan recently graduated from Northeastern University and obtained a Masters in counseling psychology. She is now working towards getting her license as a mental health counselor (LMHC). Megan currently works with children/adolescents and their families in the homes. She loves the field of psychology, and her passion to help people live more fulfilling and happier lives grows more everyday.

Michelle is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has been in the field for 5 years. She currently works part-time for Family and Children Service and runs a small private practice.
Michelle’s areas of specialty are anxiety and depression, trauma treatment, child and adolescent issues, family/couples’ therapy and dual diagnosis clients. She is a fluent Spanish speaker and has a culturally diverse clientele.
Elizabeth is currently a clinical social worker licensed in the state of Massachusetts. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Tulane University and her Master’s in Social Work from San Diego State University. Elizabeth has work experience in a number of areas including, residential treatment in a large facility as well as several group homes working with children and adolescents from various backgrounds. Elizabeth has worked in several medical hospitals in California and New Jersey in many different departments including, the emergency room, oncology, maternity and intensive care units. She currently works with children, adolescents and adults in outpatient and CBHI capacities. Elizabeth has a deep and sincere desire to help better the mind, body and spirit of all those with whom she works with.

Lauri R. Robertson, M.D. is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, as well as a fine art photographer. She received her training at The Yale School of Medicine, and was a member of Yale’s clinical faculty for many years before becoming a year ‘round resident of Nantucket in 2006. She’s worked at Family and Children’s Services since 2007, and is currently the Medical Director. She also maintains a small private practice, and is on the consulting staff of Nantucket Cottage Hospital. She lives with her husband, David Barham, a dog, and 2 cats.

Dr. Jeph has been a licensed psychologist for over 20 years, working with children, teens, young adults and the elderly from all walks of life. She has her own practice in New York City and is the supervising psychologist for Family & Children’s Services of Nantucket. Her clinical experience includes Columbia University’s Center for Psychoanalytic Training & Research, Richmond University Medical Center, Maimonides Medical Center, Gay Men’s Health Crisis and the Bellevue Hospital Center. She is a Visiting Scholar at Teachers’ College – Columbia University, a Testing and Assessment Supervisor at The Columbia Center for Psychoanalytic Training & Research, and is also a Clinical Instructor at Mt. Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Jeph received her doctorate with distinction in clinical psychology from Columbia University. She holds three masters; a master of philosophy in clinical psychology from Columbia University; a master in clinical psychology from Teachers College, and a master in general psychology from New York University (NYU).
She has presented at scientific meetings, such as the Association for Psychological Science (APS) and in clinical settings for the Family & Children’s Services of Nantucket and Mt. Sinai Medical Center. She has also taught at Columbia University and Mt. Sinai Medical Center for over a decade. Dr. Jeph has received numerous awards for her work and dedication to the field of psychology, including the United Hospital Fund’s Hospital Auxilian and Volunteer Achievement Award (21st year) of 2014, being elected as a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine, and the New York State Psychological Association Award for best graduate paper, “Women’s Behavioral Response to the Risk of HIV”.
Dr. Jeph is a proud Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and belongs to the China-American Psychoanalytic Alliance (CAPA), New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA), American Psychological Association (APA), National Register of Health Service Psychologists, and Association for Psychological Science (APS). She is also a dedicated member and volunteers with many social service organizations such as Nantucket Community Sailing (where she is currently on the Board) and The New York City Junior League (where she received the Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2005).
